MELCA employs different approaches to work with the local community at the grass root level for conservation and rehabilitation of forest, mountain and agriculture bio-diversity of the country. In addition to that, with a view of having a holistic approach to mobilizing concerted effort to that effect it also organizes awareness raising and sensitization forums especially for government organs at different levels.

At federal level consultative workshops focusing on environmental policy direction and amendment and/or implementation of environmental laws are organized for members of the legislative organ (parliamentarians).

At regional level environmental governance consultative workshops focusing on integration/mainstreaming of environment at key regional sectoral government offices were organized at different regions. The principal purpose of these regional level consultative workshops is to discuss and establish a common understanding and way
forward for the emergence of strong and effective functional institutional linkage and coordination between lead regional environmental organs and sector government agencies.
